GENERAL INFORMATION

The Republic of Kazakhstan is a unitary state with a presidential form of government. According to the Constitution, Kazakhstan is a democratic, secular, legal and social state where the highest values are human life, rights and freedoms.

Astana is the capital of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The state language is Kazakh, while Russian has the status of a language of interethnic communication. The national currency is the tenge.

The administrative structure includes 17 regions and 3 cities of republican significance.

The population exceeds 20 million people. Ethnic composition according to the 2021 census includes Kazakhs, Russians, Uzbeks, Ukrainians, Uyghurs, Germans and other nationalities.

Kazakhstan possesses more than 5,000 mineral deposits and ranks among global leaders in reserves of uranium, zinc, tungsten, oil, gas and coal.

The country is one of the world's top grain exporters and a major producer of agricultural goods.

Kazakhstan is located in the heart of Eurasia with a total area of 2.7 million square kilometers, bordering China, Russia, and Central Asian countries.

Since independence, Kazakhstan has attracted approximately USD 400 billion in foreign direct investment.

Foreign trade turnover reached USD 139.8 billion in 2023, with key partners including the EU, China, Russia and CIS countries.
